Dream Theater’s expansive arrangements and complex songwriting haven’t been scaled back on their 14th studio album, Distance Over Time. A more streamlined affair than their last, Distance Over Time has plenty of intricacy and musical diversity, but then there is very little new musical territory left for them to explore. The musicianship as always is flawless. Almost 30 years later, Dream Theater remain relevant, consistently touring and releasing new material every couple of years without skipping a beat. Nothing really stands out on Distance Over Time but every track is solid and should be welcomed by their fanbase
